Do Christians Need Deliverance?

Deliverance ministry is the driving out of demons, one of the signs to follow believers that Jesus referenced in Mark 16:17. Christians can be oppressed and tormented by demonic spirits and yes, Christians can have demonic spirits indwelling their soul. There is not scripture that says Christians cannot have demons. In another video, we address the “Can Christians be demon-possessed” question but, yes, Christians often do need deliverance and can benefit when they are unable to secure or keep lasting victory in a particular area . Not all problems are demonic in origin but demons must be cast out, they cannot be counseled out.

Does Everybody Need Deliverance?

We repeatedly affirm that demons are not behind every problem in a person’s life and that deliverance is also not a “quick fix” or magic bullet. However, we have seen it make dramatic difference in a person’s life when for the first time they are able to secure, and maintain, victory over an area of struggle such as anger, fear, depression, lust and more. We believe that every Christian can benefit from receiving competent deliverance ministry because often times people learn how to cope with the demons rather than deal with them. They do not know what freedom looks like. We see people set free from spirits they did not know they had. There is, in our view, no real reason why a person should not consider going through deliverance.. what have you got to lose?

I have the Holy Spirit in me. Why do I need deliverance?

Your question should be: what have I got to lose? We contend that every believer should go through deliverance ministry. If you try to cast out a demon that is not there there is no harm done, right? Many people learn how to cope, and coexist, with demonic strongholds and are not aware that is a primary source of some of their problems. Life can descend into demon management instead of living it abundantly. We have seen many get set free from spirits they did not know they had. One memorable encounter that I had involved a man being freed from a spirit of murder that had been active in his life for years. It surprised him, and me, when he was delivered from it!

Is deliverance ministry for today?

Some contend that the deliverance ministry of Christ and the apostles was just for that time and that it ended with their deaths. There is not a scriptural basis for that conclusion. Deliverance ministry has gone on the church since the time of Christ and there is biblical support the notion that it is for today. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We are to do the works that He did and one of the signs to follow believers was the driving out of demons. People who decide that deliverance is not for today have to go outside of scripture to come to that conclusion.
