Does Deliverance Ministry Have To Be A Spectacle?

By Don Ibbitson

Does deliverance ministry have to be a spectacle?

The answer to that question is “no”. Many people have that impression because of encounters they have witnessed or possibly seen on TV or YouTube. We are not supporters of deliverance being done in a public or altar ministry venue because it can get very messy and loud. We contend that it is most effective when people are properly prepared. It should happen in a quiet, small group environment away from the public glare. The privacy and integrity of the person receiving prayer is protected also. If the person receiving ministry is properly prepared, there should be minimal manifestations when the demons leave.

I Have The Holy Spirit. Why Do I Need Deliverance?

By Don Ibbitson

I have the Holy Spirit in me. Why do I need deliverance?

Your question should be: what have I got to lose? We contend that every believer should go through deliverance ministry. If you try to cast out a demon that is not there there is no harm done, right? Many people learn how to cope, and coexist, with demonic strongholds and are not aware that is a primary source of some of their problems. Life can descend into demon management instead of living it abundantly. We have seen many get set free from spirits they did not know they had. One memorable encounter that I had involved a man being freed from a spirit of murder that had been active in his life for years. It surprised him, and me, when he was delivered from it!

Is Deliverance Ministry For Today?

By Don Ibbitson

Is deliverance ministry for today?

Some contend that the deliverance ministry of Christ and the apostles was just for that time and that it ended with their deaths. There is not a scriptural basis for that conclusion. Deliverance ministry has gone on the church since the time of Christ and there is biblical support the notion that it is for today. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. We are to do the works that He did and one of the signs to follow believers was the driving out of demons. People who decide that deliverance is not for today have to go outside of scripture to come to that conclusion.

What Are The Benefits of Deliverance?

By Don Ibbitson

What Are The Benefits of Going Through Deliverance?

The largest single benefit of going through deliverance is that the mental torment is gone! Let me explain that: indwelling spirits are able to bombard our mind at different times with thoughts that would want us to act in ways that lead to destruction, evil or death. When the spirits are gone, they will seek to return to the house (Matt. 12:44) and will be able to put those same thoughts into our minds and stir up memories. However, there is not the same power behind those thoughts and we are better able to win the battle of the mind.

If the Holy Spirit Comes Into a Person, Don’t the Demons Have to Leave?

By Don Ibbitson

If the Holy Spirit comes into a person, don’t the demons have to leave?

The answer is no. Some contend that if they had demons before they got saved, or when they were sinners in the world, that when the Holy Spirit came in that the bad spirits or demons had to leave. They contend that you cannot have the Holy Spirit and demon spirits in the same house (or temple) if you like.

The only scripture they can reference is 2 Cor 6:14 which asks the question about what fellowship can light have with darkness? The implication is that when the light of the Holy Spirit comes in the darkness of the demons has to leave. Look at the Scripture in context. That is an incorrect application and interpretation. The passage talks about being in business, or being in a relationship, with unbelievers.

We have seen many Christians, who have the Holy Spirit in them, also get set free from demonic spirits during deliverance so both can be in the same house!
