I have occasion to minister to couples who are into their second (or more) marriage and there is a typical common assessment of the difficulties they are encountering. The phrase, “we’ve each got baggage” or some facsimile thereof is a common refrain and here is what I hear when they say that:

Many couples seek counseling from our ministry to help rebuild a marriage shattered by infidelity by one of the partners. We do the best we can as counselors to assess the situation, the willingness of each to “work things out” and then help them implement a process to begin reparations.

This is the answer I hear many times during the first counseling appointment when I ask why a client is sitting in front of me. He has been caught using pornography. Sadly, it’s an all too common, particularly when you consider that it is often coming from a man who professes Christ as His Savior.
There are common themes that I’ve found over the years from those who truly recognize that pornography is truly a problem in their life. Those who do not see it as an” issue” are almost impossible to help. [Read more…]
In one of my earlier deliverance ministry encounters, I met with a “Mary” , a married mother of two who had been who had been an exotic dancer in the past.
That part of her life had been had been spiritually dark and painful for her and the fruit of that, and other aspects of her life, had led her and her husband came in for marriage counseling. [Read more…]
