What issues were you dealing with? Be specific.
As a couple, we were having trouble with communication, trust and respect due to some situations that we had gone through. Individually, we were also struggling with personal issues to include generational curses, word curses, fear of what others thought, depression, and pride.
How where they affecting you?
Our marriage was on the rocks when we sought counsel from Dr. Ibbitson. We had even considered divorce. The personal issues that we were each dealing with had also affected our communication and relationship as a couple and were keeping us from becoming the disciples that the Lord had called us to be.

Do you feel hopeless, helpless or worthless? Are you constantly trying to do right, but still end up doing wrong? Are you tired of life? Does the guilt, shame and condemnation keep you from being prosperous and productive?
I have encountered many who struggle with emotional and spiritual pain. They appear healthy on the outside but in reality, they are like a “boiling volcano.” They have either hurt someone or have been injured, and since they haven’t forgiven that person, they carry resentment which opens the door to guilt, shame and condemnation. The terms “addict”, “my addiction” and “addictive personality” are tossed around liberally today. Are they accurate descriptions or do they misrepresent the root cause of a person’s struggles? I’m going to share my perspective as a Christian Counselor/Deliverance Minister based upon experience in dealing with many who struggle with substance abuse.

My mother is Cuban and my father is Romanian. Both sides of the families were very traditional in their cultural beliefs and were involved in pagan rituals such as santeria and fortune telling. Both sides of the family resorted to violence and curses when angered. [Read more…]
