Are you watching your children head down the same road you travelled when you were young?
Are you screaming, “Don’t do it! The choices you make now will impact your future!” on deaf ears?
Or are you living in fear that your child will be abused, abandoned, or rejected like you were?
Scripture tells us that the sins of the father will visit the 3rd and the 4th generation (Exodus 20:5). It is entirely possible that you are watching the same patterns develop in your children that detoured your youth.
You can see examples of this in scripture with David and Solomon; both had vulnerable areas where the enemy ensnared them with sexual sin.
Another example is Abraham and Isaac: both lied about their wives being their sisters for selfish motivation.
He who speaks flattery to his friend, even the eyes of his children will fail (Job 17:5)
Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their iniquities. (Lam. 5:7)
Sin is defined as missing the mark and breaking the law of God.
The definition of iniquity is generational deviation from Gods proper path.
Therefore,sin is the cause, iniquity is the effect and that sin will visit the 3rd and 4th generations to reestablish the curse familiar to your family tree.
Clients who come in for deliverance ask if their freedom will protect their children from the bloodline curses once operational in their life. The answer to that is no.
The enemy knows your family, he has studied it like a good football coach studies the movements of his opponent.
Your deliverance positions you as God’s vessel of prayer to war for your children with great discernment to see the enemy’s tactics in advance.
Spirits from Generational Sin Will Visit
However, that does not keep your adversary from visiting your children.
It will, however, keep any spirits currently assigned to you from being passed on to your children at your death.
I share my personal testimony often on generational spirits visited me after my mother’s passing. I battled the tormenting spirits previously assigned to her for two years before I found a deliverance ministry to set me free from generational sin.
The last thing I want to do is leave an inheritance of torment for my children because of my sin!
I know we are the parents of a triumphant warrior generation! Our ceiling is their floor!
As parents, our prayers avail much and we must be willing to submit to deliverance first in order to break the pattern of iniquity in our bloodline.
All curses were nailed to the cross with Jesus, his blood was enough. There is power in the blood of Jesus, but it’s not automatic, it takes repentance for sin. We must appropriate our freedom just as we did our salvation for ourselves and the future generations.
If you recognize sin in your family bloodline that has been repeating, here is a simple declaration to break any curse that allowed that sin to enter.
Prayer to Break the Power of Generational Sin/Curses
In the name of Jesus Christ, I repent for the sin of (list) and I confess and forgive the sins of my forefathers. I break the power of every inherited curse on my bloodline, specifically (list) I also break any unknown curses, even those I have spoken over myself. I cancel the assignment of every spirit upon me from a generational curse and declare that you have no hold over me, in Jesus name. Amen.
Removing the spirits that have gained access to your soul through generational sin, may require more than just proclaiming the above. If you have repented but still find yourself in the same mess, it is time to seek Christian counseling with an emphasis on deliverance will lead you and your children to victory.
