There is a lie lurking behind same sex attraction that has left our youth at a crossroad of confusion.
These are the words I hear that describe that confusion:
“I have thoughts that come out of nowhere that make me think I might be gay.”
“I’m not like everyone else. I am different and I don’t fit in.”
“I was abused, so I don’t feel safe with the opposite sex.”
“I was born this way. I’ve always known I’m gay.”
The best way to share my experiences with you is by relataing some client success stories.
Incidence #1: I remember the day I got the call from one of my clients making an appointment for her daughter. She told me she being tormented by spirits of depression over her lifestyle choices. Her daughter arrived for her appointment dressed in men’s clothing and angry.
She sat curled up in my chair waiting for me to judge her. I didn’t.
I listened to her unwind her story of bad relationships, fighting, depression, abuse, and blame.
She had grown up in church so she knew what the Bible said about her lifestyle choice of lesbianism, but she was confused because it seemed natural to her.
Then she blurted out, “No one plays me!”
I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit letting me know I was looking at one of God’s chosen warriors. She walked with a mantle of justice. The truth was the one thing she demanded of people. I asked her; “Do you want to know the truth, because you are being played, and you bought the lie hook, line, and sinker?”
I explained that the enemy uses all sorts of lies to steal the destiny of this warrior generation. For her, it was abuse that left her wounded and broken. For others, it’s rejection that leaves them feeling different and awkward, and for many it’s a generational curse that came in with sin from their forefathers.
The truth is that this generation was wired differently from others. They are more compassionate, more loving, and more eager to take on a just cause. They don’t fit the cookie-cutter pattern of this world because they were not made to! Demons are assigned to snatch them from Gods frontline and cause them to walk under a demonic banner of love that mocks God. The demons can then sit back and laugh at them.
My client quickly realized she had been played!
The following week I went out to the lobby to call her in for her appointment and I didn’t see her. I started to go back to my office and I heard her yell, “Wait! I am here!”
I looked again, and there she sat, hair down, all new clothes, and her nails done. She looked at me squarely and said, “Nobody plays me!”
From that day on, her life changed.
Incidence #2: Another success story comes from a young man who was questioning his identity. He was more sensitive, compassionate, and service-oriented than most boys his age. He was having “thought bombs” of same-sex attraction because he wasn’t like all the other boys. He told me he was emotionally wired more like the gay population at his school.
I was able to share with him my thoughts on how God made him. I told him he was not wired like all men because he was wired for a greater capacity to love. It made him special not rejected. I informed him the enemy will do whatever it takes for this group of men not to love as God designed them. These men were called to be our future pastors, leaders, and worshippers. The demonic kingdom studies our destiny and then seeks to destroy it.
Once this lie was exposed, this young man was able to take these thoughts captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ. He went on into ministry.
Incidence #3: An 18-year-old girl came into one of our group seminars during her senior year in high school. She was the head of the Gay/Lesbian group and was voted most popular girl in her class. She told me that this lifestyle choice has left her suicidal and under constant torment. She walked away from her old life and was almost stoned by her classmates for choosing Jesus. She went through our deliverance seminar and became a missionary.
Since that time, I have been able to speak to the hearts of many young people who are at the crossroads of decision. Even the littlest warriors get mad when this lie is exposed. They don’t like the idea of being deceived and manipulated out of their destiny. They don’t like the picture of demons laughing at them!
The demonic kingdom is always trying to use love as a reason to sin. In my youth that banner read “Make Love Not War”, today it’s different but with the same demons behind it.
Love is the greatest gift from God. When the lie is exposed in love, lives change.
