On the day I lost my job in corporate America many years ago, I collapsed emotionally as my twenty-eight year career was going to relocate to a different state without me.
What I subsequently realized was that the day prior to receiving the news, I had waved the white towel before God.

As far back as I can recall, my mother would not permit discussions about hell in our home. From her point of view, in order for hell to exist, there would need to be rescuer or savior or at least a path available by works.
My mother instead adopted the new age approach that all roads lead to heaven. That notion was much more comforting and far less painful than having to repent. [Read more…]
I hear a variety of comments regularly from my counseling clients: “I hate my job!” “My boss is a tyrant!” “ No one in my office is a Christian and they treat me like an outcast”. “If the economy wasn’t so bad I would have left long ago!”
I remember feeling that way numerous times during my twenty eight years in corporate America. I had a dream recently about striving and works that accompany a religious spirit. It represented the checklist that many “task -minded” people try to accomplish in order to get into the presence of God.
In this dream, I had purchased a ticket to ride a special elevator that was going to whisk me into the center of God’s heart. It was a different elevator than the one I had been freely riding for years. [Read more…]
A spirit of apathy is a self-defense mechanism from the pit of hell. It closes your mind, hardens your heart, and partners with impatience in order to breed failure. It causes you to say things like, “I just give up!”, “I don’t care anymore!”, and “Whatever!” If these statements are coming out of your mouth, then something evil is tormenting your heart.
